With their big eyes and large heads, baby animals resemble human babies, which can instinctively trigger nurturing emotions. These impulses go beyond “aww!” feelings, though, also helping with task focus. Researchers at Hiroshima University showed some students pictures of baby animals and others images of adult animals and then tested them. The baby-animal student group performed far better in assessment tests than the second group.
