When Hurricane Irma Kept Kristen Bell from Her Family, She Gave Evacuees the Performance of a Lifetime

"We are gonna make lemonade outta Irma as best we can."

While filming the upcoming movie Like Father in Fort Lauderdale last week, Hurricane Irma was about to strike, and like many people in the area, actress and mom of two Kristen Bell was unable to evacuate. But instead of allowing herself to be consumed with worry, Kristen made the most out of a dire situation in some spectacular ways.

The actress, who ended up staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, spent last week helping and cheering up many people she came across, Scary Mommy reports.

On Saturday, she took to Twitter to ask her followers if they knew anyone in Orlando, near Epcot, who could play the piano and has a keyboard, mic and amp. It turns out she was making that request for a very important reason: The following day, she went to Meadow Woods Middle School in Orlando, a middle school turned shelter, to do a surprise performance of Frozen songs, including "For the First Time in Forever." How awesome is that?

Kristen posted about the performance on her Instagram, writing, "When you're #singinginahurricane, your volunteer backup dancers can & will steal the show. Richard and Rebecca everyone!"

Speaking to CBS Sacramento via Facetime on Sunday morning, Kristen said she and her film crew of about 86 people staying at the hotel offered their help to the hotel staff. Kristen said, "We've just told the front desk that we have an able-bodied crew and if we need to deliver toilet paper and water to people's rooms, we're ready to be on staff," E Online reports.

That evening, she visited Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Hotel, to where she says "thousands of senior home residents" evacuated. Along with an Instagram photo of herself sipping out of a Frozen-themed bottle, she writes, "We are gonna make lemonade outta Irma as best we can, and I'm fueling up the only way I know how in order to call a few hours of BINGO!" She also posted about having dinner with them, taking part in a wheelchair race with them, and meeting a special man she refers to as her "side piece" in Orlando.

You heard right. The actress uploaded an Instagram post and Tweet of an older gentleman named John singing to her, and made sure to tag husband Dax Shepard in it. She writes, "I hope you understand. I'm powerless over a man who serenades me, to which Dax replied, "I fully approve of this side action. Git it, gurl." Lol!

The actress also helped the family of friends in Florida, including relatives of actress Jennifer Carpenter. On Saturday, Carpenter tweeted, "Grandma & aunt were ready to wear helmets in the closet under eye of #HurricaneIrma 'til @IMKristenBell found them a way out!!" Kristen even helped Frozen co-star John Gad's family. On Saturday, he thanked her on Instagram, writing, "So @kristenanniebell literally saved my parents and my entire family tonight from #HurricaneIrma. When they were stranded in Florida, she got them a hotel room at her hotel in Orlando and saved them, my brothers, my sister-in-law and niece and nephew. They don't make them like this girl. Thank you, Kristen. You are truly an angel sent from above."
