As prompted by my previous post "A Mother's Wish", I was inspired to put up the poll as pictured above to get the actual input from other moms like me and how they feel about their current status. 137 voted and 26 commented and the result was astounding! 35.77% of all responders would rather be Stay at Home moms! Now that's saying something about how most of us feel in general. As moms, we are genetically structured to nurture, thus the need to stay at home with our families to care for them. This is the reason why we feel awfully guilty when we're always away working and not spending as much time with our kids as much as we wanted to.
One mom said it best:
"How many woman would say they wish they have worked more when their children were smaller? And how many say they wish they would have been with their children more when they were smaller? I was a SAHM for 13 years and felt so blessed to have been. YOU CAN NEVER GET THAT TIME BACK, WHEN IT'S GONE, IT'S GONE..."
How true!
But like everything else, there's always that other crucial side to the equation to complicate things. Sadly, I'm on the other side of the equation where I don't want to be right now. But just like those 35.77% moms on the graph, there is always hope in wishing. Life is unpredictable. Who knows where it will take me and you as a working mom next. We make do of what we have in the moment. All I can hope for is that it will lead me to where I want to be someday, simply a full-time mother to my child. Period. What about you? What do you hope you were right now?
