My goodness! How do working mothers do it? In other words, this is a little late as announcements go because I just haven’t mastered claiming time for myself yet.
One month ago today, I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. Welcome Jonas! And, um, happy one month birthday. Time sure has flown by.
He joined me, my husband, and my stepson on the night of February 8, weighing a whopping 8 lbs 12 oz and measuring 21.75 inches long. He has already grown so much! I can’t believe how different he looks from only four short weeks ago.
In the past month, I’ve barely managed to journal, let alone blog (as is evident by the fact I’m posting this close to midnight). I think I’ve read a total of 20 pages of a book I had started before Jonas’ arrival. Showering is difficult, but I’ve managed to work that in (most days). And though I read emails on my cell phone, I rarely have time to respond.
Laundry, cleaning, and trips to the grocery store have all become scarce. I had a large envelope on my desk for the past to weeks because I couldn’t seem to make it to the post office to send it.
My days are now spent entirely with the little one. It’s amazing how all-encompassing something so small can be!
After plenty of missed meals, I learned to keep cereal, fruit, salad, yogurt and other no-cooking-necessary foods on hand for quick breakfasts and lunches. I’m less cranky if I get to eat. I may not be able to control the amount of sleep I get, but by golly, I can control eating. Somewhat.
So tell me... how do all of you busy mothers find time for yourself, your errands, your home, and your spouses?
