FLEX APPEAL Promoting good health is this firm's mission, and giving employees the flexibility to balance work and family life (and reduce health-depleting stress) is an essential company benefit. Almost 13,000 staffers flexed their schedules, and more than 17,000 telecommuted last year. Staffers who want to spend extra time with their kids when school's out can request reduced summer work hours during June, July and August.

CHILD-CARE KUDOS An expanded program provides employees with a gen-erous 20 days of center-based or in-home backup care each year for a minimal fee—and it can be used for children or elders. In addition, 16 company-sponsored on- or near-site day-care centers serve more than 1,500 children. The firm also offers before- and afterschool care.

LEAVES WE LOVE New moms can take six weeks off at full pay, and they have the freedom to return on a part-time schedule or to work some hours from home.
