WHAT WORKS The company has formed strategic partnerships with several groups to recruit, retain and advance more women of color, including the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting, the National Asian American Society of Accountants and the National Association of Black Accountants. There are 49 women of color in the top 20% of all employees ranked by pay, and almost 1,200 women of color were hired last year.

MENTORING MARVEL Women-of-color employees are matched with senior partners who provide one-on-one career advice and counsel in PwC's Mentoring Partnerships Program. Currently about 250 pairs exist. The company's Minority Circles and Women's Networking Circles connect staff to successful role models. With 50 circles in place, women of color can become acquainted and build relationships with senior staff.

WHAT'S NEW
To show women from diverse backgrounds that they can thrive at PricewaterhouseCoopers, the company created the book Perceptions. It features 16 PwC executives, including eight women and two women of color.

WHAT'S COOL
About 95% of PwC's minority interns are hired full-time.

WHAT'S NEXT
More than half of PwC's multicultural staff is Asian. The company plans to heighten focus on these employees through programs like the Minority Transition Plan. This Web-based mentoring initiative helps new women-of-color hires navigate the company. PwC is also a founding sponsor of the new National Asian American Society of Accountants.
