What We Love

Everyone plays a role in the diversity efforts at this New York City–based firm. As part of a new Diversity Action Plan, a partner in each practice group and office monitors the professional experiences of women and minority attorneys; they also facilitate mentoring and review work assignments to make sure they are distributed fairly. Last year, 102 female and 128 male lawyers took part in a formal diversity mentoring program, and the firm, which has four U.S. offices, also rolled out training sessions focused on recognizing unconscious bias in the workplace. Associate advisory councils provide valuable feedback on these initiatives and brainstorm new ones. Recruiting plays a pivotal role in fostering diversity, too: The firm devotes 27% of its recruiting budget to attracting women lawyers and nearly 30% to hiring attorneys of color.
