Join us once again to talk about the latest news from Working Mother’s campaign for paid parental leave for American working moms and dads. Currently, the United States is the only developed country that does not ensure working parents can take job-protected, paid time away from work to bond with a new child. California and New Jersey have paved the way to a more family-friendly nation with paid family leave insurance programs for new parents — now it’s time for our country to follow their lead.
Hosted by workingmother.com editor Helen Jonsen (follow @_workingmother_) and Working Mother Editorial Director Jennifer Owens (follow @working_mother), this second in a series of Working Mother Tweet Chats will focus on brand-new research from the National Partnership for Women and Families (follow @NPWF) on the benefits of paid parental leave. We’ll also update you on the latest paid parental leave policy news from Congress, and share maternity- and paternity-leave questions, stories and tips!
Our chat will be joined by Bonnie Erbe, host of PBS' To The Contrary with Bonnie Erbe (@tothecontrary).
Note: To the Contrary will air an interview with Working Mother Media President Carol Evans regarding paid parental leave, followed by a panel discussion, this weekend (January 21-22). For details of when the show will air in your community go to tothecontrary.org and click on program schedules. Starting January 20, the program will also be streamed online.
Already, more than 4,200 supporters have signed our petition to Congress! Please add your signature today! Let’s get a paid parental leave law enacted now! Click here to learn more about our petition.
