It seems that people across the world are pretty glad to have a job these days. A Kelly Global Workforce Index survey of 134,000 people in 29 countries finds that nearly one-third — 27 percent — of respondents say the global downturn has dialed up their sense of loyalty. Despite many workers being asked to “do more with less,” only 10 percent report feeling less committed to their current role. The most engaged employees are in North America, where 52 percent label themselves “totally committed” to their roles. Workers cite “more interesting or challenging work” as the factor most likely to increase their engagement -- not higher salary or better benefits.
