When the snacks ran out and Mommy’s purse contents ceased to be of interest, the mother looked at her truck, then at her watch and realized it would be another ninety minutes, at least. Mother, Toddler One and Toddler Two were at the carwash and had ordered the Super-duper detailing special.
The vehicle in which a toddler is transported, ought to be disassembled frequently. Various miscellaneous household items such as shoes, crayons, last year's lunches, broken toy parts and articles of clothing are often hidden deep within the crevices of the automobile’s interior.
Through improvisation,
Toddler Mother
successfully puttered away 90 minutes (and kept Toddlers happy and busy):
1. Sitting outside on a bench, they named the color of every car being watched. (10 min.)
2. They identified the color and style of every worker’s shirt. (10 min.)
3. Thanks to an outdoor speaker, the small posse danced to the blaring cheesy 80’s music. (15 min.)
4. One man had a dog. They pet the dog -over and over again. They also engaged Mr. Dog-owner in deep conversation about the dog’s daily feeding and evacuating routine. (15 min.)
5. The toddlers fingered every item hanging from the air-conditioned waiting area display racks and shelving. Mother worked feverishly to replace all merchandise prior to complete destruction and need to purchase entire store contents. (15 min.)
6. In an effort to contain the overabundance of unbridled energy, Toddler Mother played the following games: Simon Says, Freeze Dancing, and What kind of bug is this? (15 min.)
7. Exhausted and on the verge of a nervous breakdown,
Toddler Mother
re-discovers her teeth vis-à-vis the concept of "counting" and has
Toddler One
and
Toddler Two
count them all, as well as their own- several times. (10 min.)
10 + 10 + 15 + 15 + 15 + 15 + 10 = 90 minutes.
Helpful Hint: Switch it up and change given activity every 10-15 minutes before obnoxious
Toddler-whine
commences. Overall, everyone survived the 90-minute waiting period and
Toddler Mother
was overjoyed with her squeaky-clean SUV –even if it lasted just for that day.
