Wanji Walcott is Managing Counsel in the General Counsel’s Office of American Express Company. She leads a team that has global responsibility for providing legal support to the company’s newest business unit, the Enterprise Growth Group, American Express Technologies and the company’s shared services group, Global Business Services.

Ms. Walcott’s team counsels and supports clients on internet law issues (mobile, web, social media), online and mobile payment initiatives, mergers and acquisitions, as well as outsourcing and other technology transactions.  Ms. Walcott is a recipient of the Top Owners Award, American Express Technologies’ highest recognition for performance.  

Prior to her position at American Express, she practiced law at the international law firm, Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP (formerly Shaw Pittman LLP) where she specialized in negotiating a broad range of technology transactions.  She received a B.A. and a J.D. from Howard University.   She is recovering from a torn Achilles tendon that resulted from playing in Women’s basketball league.
