North Korea Mission Manager, Office of the Director of National Intelligence

Ms. Sylvia L. Copeland was appointed the North Korea Mission Manager for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence in January 2010. Prior to this assignment, she served as the Associate Deputy Director of National Intelligence for Collection and the Assistant Deputy Director of National Intelligence for Collection Strategies where she was responsible for preparing integrated collection strategies for the Intelligence Community. She also chaired the NICB and the FISA panel for the Community. Ms. Copeland graduated from the University of Colorado in 1978 with a B.A. in microbiology. She received an M.A. in personnel management from Central Michigan University in 1984. Ms. Copeland is an ROTC graduate and was commissioned in 1978 as an Army Intelligence Officer. She served in strategic and tactical assignments in the Army for over seven years before joining CIA.
