Sandy Burud, Ph.D., is the Chief Strategy Officer of FlexPaths, LLC, a women-owned business that produces software solutions to facilitate flexible work for American Express, Procter&Gamble, Ernst & Young, John Deere and others.
She has spent three decades as a researcher, consultant and author on human capital and people-friendly work practices. Her last book, Leveraging the New Human Capital: Adaptive Strategies, Results Achieved and Stories of Transformation (with M. Tumolo, 2004), was named “Outstanding HRD Book of the Year” by the Academy of Human Resource Development. The book and research behind it was funded by the Packard Foundation and sponsored by the Peter Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University where Dr. Burud was a Visiting Scholar. She directed an earlier national study that identified trends in new dependent care benefits and co-authored a how-to book for employers.
From 1984-1996 her boutique consulting practice, Burud & Associates, helped Microsoft, Universal Studios, Warner Bros., Seagram, Starbucks, ABN-AMRO, Hughes Electronics, Mattel, Los Alamos National Lab, PG&E and others adapt strategies to deal with workforce changes.
She is past President of the Alliance for Work-Life Progress (AWLP), where she directed the development of the first work-life professional certification. She holds a Ph.D. from Claremont Graduate University.
