Robin Smith is General Counsel at LEGO Systems, Inc. (LSI), in Enfield, Connecticut, which is the American subsidiary of the Danish LEGO toy company. Robin handles all of the general corporate legal affairs for the LEGO Company in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and South America, and assists with matters in Market Group 3, which includes the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. Robin was previously Deputy General Counsel, and Corporate Counsel at LSI handling all of the trademark, copyright, and patent law issues in the Americas, and all of the Internet law issues for the company worldwide. Prior to her employment at the LEGO Group, Robin worked as an associate at the Connecticut law firm of Day, Berry & Howard LLP (now Day, Pitney LLP) in the firm’s general commercial litigation, and technology and intellectual property law practice areas, where she litigated a variety of matters at the trial and appellate levels. She earned her J.D. with honors in 1993 from the Syracuse University College of Law, and her B.A. with honors in psychology and theatre from Wesleyan University in 1989. Robin is a former member of the International Trademark Association’s (INTA) Board of Directors and their Internet Committee, and a former Board Member of the Connecticut chapter of the American Corporate Counsel Association (ACCA). Robin grew up in West Hartford, Connecticut, and that is where she now resides with a Great Dane puppy and her twelve year old son, who is, of course, a huge fan of LEGO® toys!
