Director, Global Diversity and Inclusion, Johnson & Johnson

Marilyn Huffman Thompson is the Director, Global Diversity and Inclusion for Johnson and Johnson.  She assumed this role in 2008 and partners with the global franchises and regions providing strategic guidance and operational assistance in development and implementation of diversity and inclusion strategies, governance structure, action plans and processes to achieve business results and competitive advantage. Areas of focus are:  recruiting and developing a diverse talent pool, building organizational capabilities in creating an inclusive culture, identifying untapped opportunities in the marketplace and enhancing external relations with community and civic groups.  Her client groups have included pharmaceutical and consumer businesses and corporate staff functions.


Marilyn has over 20 years of leadership experience with Johnson & Johnson in Human Resources.  Prior to Johnson & Johnson, she held key Human Resources roles at General Electric and Glaxo Smithkline.  Her areas of expertise include organizational effectiveness, talent management, training and culture change.

Marilyn earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Vassar College, a master’s degree in Social Work from University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. in Organizational Behavior from Drexel University. She is passionate about coaching and developing others to be their best and even earned a Life Coaching Certificate from The Hudson Institute of Santa Barbara, California.


Marilyn is active in her community and serves on the Executive Board for the Advancement of Mental Health in Princeton, N.J. and State Board of Junior Achievement for New Jersey. She is also a guest lecturer at Rutgers School of Business. Marilyn lives in Princeton, N.J., and has a grown daughter.
