Lisa La Valle-Finan
With a propensity for fun and a sixth sense for cultural insights, Lisa La Valle-Finan trains her clients to understand what makes the other guy tick because success in the global workforce depends on developing genuine relationships with people from other countries or cultures.
With a refreshingly unvarnished approach, she’s also on mission to erase the “Ugly American” stereotype by baring an unflinching view at how the rest of the world perceives Americans. At the end of her workshops, all her clients are relaxed and ready to take on international assignments with a newly-minted cultural dexterity and confidence.
She’s the author of an upcoming book for American women in business called The Globalista’s Guide to Cultural Dexterity: Cracking the Culture Code (Anywhere!) She’s been a featured guest on PRI’s The World for the BBC and Forbes Women Magazine, and her articles have appeared in The Huffington Post, New Jersey Monthly Magazine, & NewJerseyNewsroom.com. Her insights have been found useful to a wide array of organizations as President of the Society for Intercultural Education Training and Research (SIETAR Metro New York) and as an adjunct facilitator for the Ecole De Hautes Etudes Commerciales EDHEC one of the main business schools of France and Europe.
Lisa gets her global perspective from her color blind upbringing in sunny Southern California, her Classical Studies in Greece, as a TEFL teacher in Europe, and her travels around the world for over 25 years. A certified intercultural trainer and M.S. Candidate in Applied Anthropology for the University of North Texas, Lisa currently has her own consulting firm getGlobalized.org and is convinced that a even just a little local knowledge goes a long way.
