Joan Sheridan LaBarge
Joan Sheridan LaBarge is Vice President/Group Publisher of Working
Mother Media, Diversity Best Practices, and the National Association for
Female Executives (NAFE), all are subsidiaries of publishing giant Bonnier Corporation.
Since joining Working Mother Media in 2005, Joan has been instrumental
in expanding the company’s scope on initiatives that focus on work/life, the advancement of women, and diversity and inclusion. She is also credited with helping to bring Working Mother’s advancement of women work around the globe including Beijing, Bangalore, São Paulo, Johannesburg and Toronto. She is central to the company’s Network and Affinity Leadership Congress, the Multicultural Women’s initiative and to Working Mother’s newest effort to educate women on the business of social media.
Joan defined and more clearly positioned Working Mother magazine. She identified the Working Mother reader as a mom with a career and family, a market that represents 36% of all moms in America. It was now clear: The mom with a career, the not-to-miss, educated mom can only be found in Working Mother.
Joan is a sought after speaker on work life balance and the advancement of women. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Advertising Women of New York and Co-Chair of their most successful fundraiser, Advertising Working Mothers of the Year. She is the Founder of the Girls Soccer Program for the Forest Hills Youth Activities Association.
She received her B.S. in Communication Arts from St. John’s University and was honored as an outstanding alumni in 2008. Joan lives with her two daughters and husband Steven.
