Gill Zhou has been named Vice President of Brand, Communications and Citizenship, IBM Greater China Group since Jan, 2009. Prior to that, she was Vice President of Communications, IBM Asia Pacific. She joined IBM in October 2001 as the Executive of Communications, IBM Greater China Group.

Prior to IBM, Gill worked at Motorola for 8 years. She was the first PR representative for Motorola in China when she joined the company in December 1993.  In December 1999, she held the position of Senior Manager of Communications and Public Affairs in Motorola China and was also responsible for Motorola’s brand communications in the Asia-Pacific region. In 2000, Gill was awarded the Golden Award for the “Woman Star of Motorola” for her role in making the company one of the top 10 brands in China.

Before joining Motorola, Gill worked for one year at Sino-France Public Relations as a senior account executive. This agency was later acquired by Edelman Public Relations.

In 2004, Gill was awarded as one of the top-ten women in China’s IT industry in a program co-organized by the All China Women’s Federation, Ministry of Information Industry and China Computerworld. In October of that year she was also voted one of the Top 50 most influential women in China by Trends magazine.

Gill graduated from the PLA Foreign Studies University in 1986 and majored in English Literature. She has a Master degree in English and American Comparative Literature from Beijing Foreign Studies University, and also attended the woman executive development class hosted by Guang Hua Management School of Beijing University between 2005 and 2006.

Gill is married with one son. She is currently living in Beijing with her family.
