Dara Richardson-Heron, MD
Dara Richardson-Heron, MD completed her third year as the CEO of the Greater NYC Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure in June 2011.
For the past two years, Komen Greater NYC has been honored as the #1 Affiliate in the Komen network — outpacing 120 Komen affiliates in the US and abroad in the areas of fundraising and grantmaking in the community.
Dr. Richardson-Heron has more than 18 years of health care leadership, management and operations experience in the corporate and nonprofit sectors. She is also a 14 year breast cancer survivor and a powerful advocate and spokesperson on the topic of breast health. Her media appearances include The Doctor Oz Show, The Martha Stewart Show, The CBS Morning Show and The Today Show.
She previously held the positions of National Chief Medical Officer of United Cerebral Palsy Association, Chief Medical Officer of United Cerebral Palsy of NYC as well as the Special Assistant to the Chairman and CEO, Executive Medical Director and Director of Human Resources at Consolidated Edison Company of NY Inc.
The recipient of many awards, she has been honored with the YMCA Academy of Women Achievers Award, YMCA Black Achiever in Industry Award and was named one of the “25 Influential Black Women in Business” by The Network Journal. She was recently honored by the United Way of NYC for creating positive change and making a difference in the community.
Dr. Richardson-Heron received a Doctorate in Medicine from New York University School of Medicine and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Barnard College. She also completed a Human Resources Executive Program at the University of Michigan.
