Cathleen Civiello, Ph.D.

Deputy Associate Director for Corporate Leadership, National Security Agency

Dr. Cathleen Civiello has more than 20 years of experience working for the US Government and has been a member of the senior ranks since 1999. For most of that time, Dr. Civiello was a Corporate Psychologist in the Associate Directorate for Security and Counterintelligence at the National Security Agency (NSA) working in the areas of employee technical and leadership development, preventing betrayal of organizational trust, and violence prevention. She received a Meritorious Presidential Rank Award for her work in that role. Dr. Civiello, now the Deputy Associate Director for Corporate Leadership, is a clinical psychologist, licensed in Maryland, and has earned Specialty Board, Certification in Clinical Psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). She is a graduate of the NSA Senior Technical Development Program. She earned a Masters and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology and a Masters in Public Administration from Troy State. Dr. Civiello is a member of the NSA Senior Technical Review Panel, the NSA DISL board, and the editorial board of the Cryptologic Quarterly. She has served as adjunct faculty for the Defense Academy of Credibility Assessment and the National Cryptologic School. She served on the Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award and Colleague Assistance Committees at the Maryland Psychological Association and on the Board of Directors for and as President of the Society of Psychologists in Management. She was also guest editor of a special issue on National Security Psychology of a peer-reviewed external journal. Dr. Civiello currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Foundation for the Advancement of Psychology in Management.
