Barbara Turvett is executive editor of Working Mother magazine and workingmother.com and is integrally involved in the editorial viewpoint and planning for both. She oversees and edits women’s, family and work life content, top edits the entire magazine and manages original online content. She also helps manage and contributes to content for digital platforms including Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest. Her work has helped the Working Mother team garner several Folio, MIN and Parents’ Choice media awards. Barbara has specialized in women’s, parenting, health and education topics throughout her career in publishing. She has written and edited for many national titles and websites, among them Parenting, Parents, Family Circle, Weight Watchers, Child, Healthy Kids, Men’s Fitness and American Baby magazines, as well as the Daily News of New York City. She was formerly on the staff of Sesame Workshop, as consulting editor for Sesame Street Parents magazine, and began her editorial career at McCall’s. Barbara often represents Working Mother Media in broadcast and print media and as a speaker at government, work life and parenting conferences and events. She has also edited two award-winning early childhood education books, and she has written a health book and edited several cookbooks for Weight Watchers Publishing Group. Prior to her editorial career, Barbara was an actress and singer and performed in film, theatre and nightclubs. She enjoys life in New York City with her husband, teenage daughter and pet cockatiel.
