Barbara Steinberg Cerf

Corporate Vice President, Women's Market, New York Life Insurance Company

She creates strategies and programs to recruit women into the insurance industry, helping women move into management, and increasing sales and services to women who are not protected for their futures. She is also a member of the Corporate Social Media Committee.

She joined New York Life in April, 2006. Her past experience includes working in Fortune 500 companies such as IBM where she was director of Global Marketing for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta and later became Director of Marketing for ibm.com. She has also worked in marketing and management at Metropolitan Life, McGraw-Hill, and Time Inc. In 2004 she was the marketing executive for Pitney Bowes responsible for sales and marketing for the top 25 international customers.

She’s also been a successful entrepreneur and co-founded a B2B dotcom called isolve.com. She ran her own marketing consulting firm with clients ranging from IBM, Starwood Hotels, GE, to Air France, Descente America, and women’s travel companies. She began her career as a journalist in Boston and was appointed to the Boston’s first ever Mayor’s Committee to improve the status of women Commission.

Barb is a baby boomer, a gourmet cook, married to husband Pete and has two grown children; Jarod, a writer, and Jordan, a young autistic adult. She heads the Leadership Council for Go Red for Westchester and Fairfield County, an organization dedicated to making women heart healthy and is on the Board of Directors of Westchester County’s Executive Women’s Council.

She is a life coach and also mentors families with special needs children.
