Ami Spivey
Ami Spivey is Vice President of Innovations and Engineering for Sam’s Club, a Division of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. As VP of Innovations, Ms. Spivey leads a team that facilitates process and systems improvements for Sam’s Club. Additionally, she is a part of Walmart’s Global Business Process Team, which integrates Innovation and Engineering across the organization. Previously, Ms. Spivey served as Sr. Director of Administration and Strategy for Walmart Transportation. During her time in Transportation, she built and led an Engineering team focused on offsetting the rising cost of fuel and leveraging efficiencies to create a more sustainable Private Fleet. In her 18 years with Walmart, Ms. Spivey has held many roles leading both Distribution Center and Transportation Operations, in addition to Engineering. She also has had the opportunity to play a part in Walmart’s emergency response and assistance efforts including: Salvation Army support in NYC after 9/11; Disaster response to seven hurricanes, including Katrina; and most recently assisted with improving the tracking/positioning of vessels during the oil spill cleanup in the Gulf of Mexico. Ms. Spivey has received numerous awards for performance in her field. Most notably, her Brooksville, FL team received the Helen Robson Walton Community Involvement Award, one of Walmart’s highest honors. Ms. Spivey is an Industrial Engineering graduate from the University of Arkansas. She actively supports many of the U of A’s undergraduate programs including senior design sponsorships and is a corporate mentor for their Women in Logistics Program. At Walmart, she is an active member of the Women Officer Caucus, Women in Leadership, Women’s Resource Council and is leading mentoring programs. After living and working in five locations with the company, she returned home to Northwest Arkansas where she has resided the past 5 years.
