Preparing for School

Posted on August 05, 2009

Summer is almost over and it's time to prepare my blended family for the school year.

Purchase a Calendar

  • I purchase a large calendar and a pack of markers.
  • Each child is assigned a color.  I then take the various school calendars (we only have 3 different ones this year!) and color code  each child's school year with their holidays, teacher work days, exam schedule, report cards, etc.
  • I then mark all birthdays, anniversaries and other special events.  (Don't forget the hubby's birthday!)
  • Mark your visitation schedule- clearly so each child can follow the schedule of when they are at Mom's house or Dad's house

Have Each Child Add Additional Special Events

  • Let each child check to make sure their schedules are listed correctly.
  • Give each child their color marker and have them add special events

Relax!

With a couple more weeks until school starts- enjoy your time with your kids.
