Working Mother Magazine Writer and PR Guidelines
Thank you for your interest in Working Mother. Our readers include full-time, part-time and sidelined moms who work at public and private companies of all types and sizes; who are entrepreneurs; and who are self-employed. The best way to pitch an idea that can work: Read Working Mother for content and tone. You can subscribe here.
Features We do assign features to freelancers. Feature pitches should specifically relate to the working mom, whether geared to her work, family, personal well-being or a mixture of these. Features are also assigned to fit our initiative packages (100 Best Companies, Best Companies for Multicultural Women, Best Companies for Hourly Workers, etc). We like tightly focused pieces that celebrate working moms while illuminating and sensibly solving a problem unique to our readers and/or their children and family. We assign features at about 1000 to 2000 words.
Columns Most of our columns are staff written. We assign out LOL, Moms @ Work, My Money and other columns occasionally.
Please email queries. If possible, include links to or files of clips of your previously published work. Include all contact info so we can reach you if we need to. If pitching about a specific working mom, include recent photographs/jpegs (at least 300 dpi) if possible. Unsolicited manuscripts will not be returned.
Please pitch queries/ideas to the correct editors:
