Wow...December went in the blink of an eye. During November and December I'm pretty much checked out from anything that is not "fourth quarter" related. It is the busiest time of the year for us and though I revel in it, it is hard to remember to take a deep breath during these days. We produce gifts mostly for the entertainment industry and this year was no different. I have my regulars to who order gifts in November to pick up mid-December. And then there my last minute surprises who order gifts on December 12 to pick up on December 18th...dont' know how, but we make it all happen.
Now I'm in Miami, live in Los Angeles, trying to relax and unwind...except I have a three year old who seems to be glued to my hip. He wants me to feed him, me to bathe him, me to watch tv with him, mee to sleep with him, and yes...me to go to the bathroom with him, but he expects me to close my eyes while he takes care of business. It's a nice chage to have to have to much time with him, and yet I long for a day where I don't have to speak to another human being at all. Just one day, but since it looks like it will be many years before that is even a possibility I will settle for the precious moments alone, even if it's only when I use the restroom.
We are with my in-laws right now and I am enjoying it very much. Funny though how I long to get away all year, and then when I'm here I long for home and my bed.
We brought in the New Year Puerto Rican style, singing and playing instruments. My son has been participating in these sing alongs since he was 10 months old. The first time he played maracas in his playpen unltil after midnight. The second time he as two and he played anything he could get his hands on and fell asleep just after midnight on his dad's shoulder. This year was amazing to see him playing maracas, tamborine and tropical instruments and mouthing the songs along with abuelito, daddy and titi. I am grateful that he will have these memories...and I revel in them as well.
