The Setup
Don’t hesitate to schedule a meeting with your manager about how pumping will fit into your workday. Talk about where you’ll pump (a reasonable lactation space is the law in most larger workplaces) and how you’ll need breaks to do it. Let your boss know that pumping won’t stifle your usual A-plus work.
The Schedule
Figure out the optimal times you’ll need for pumping, then share your break schedule with your manager and colleagues. This way, everyone will be on the same page, meetings will be less likely to bump into your breaks, and absences from your desk won’t be a surprise to your team.
