No, it's nothing bad or unhealthy. It's the show "Army Wives." I can't say it's completely accurate, and I am sure the writers have run with the idea and not stuck to the book, but it's fun. Some of the issues that have come up on the show don't always seem true to life, but it's still fun. The author, Tanya Biank, told me the original title of the book is "Under The Sabers." I like that title better than the paperback title, "Army Wives." I like the original title better, but the idea is great.
Military spouses form special bonds that cannot be explained to civilians. We move, make friends, and they stay friends no matter where we move next. It doesn't matter how long you have been a milspouse, it happens during your very first duty station for most people. There are women I have met whom I may never see again, yet whom I will never forget. The crazy gals I used to scrapbook with, the woman who helped introduce my son to someone other than Mommy taking care of him, the woman who watched my child at the last minute when I suddenly came down with a raging flu. All of them special, all of them friends for life. Even if I never see them again, they are in my heart forever.
That's why I like a silly t.v. show. It reminds me of all of the special friends I've made simply by being my husband's wife. I will always be grateful to them, each and every one, for making my life as a milspouse easier, if even a tiny bit. Thank you to all of you. You know who you are.
