The Iran-Iraq war, Christiane Amanpour was there. The Bosnian War, Amanpour was there. Afghanistan, following 9/11, Amanpour was there. Amanpour got her start in 1983 at CNN as an entry-level desk assistant for the International Desk. By 1992, the Iranian born Amanpour had risen to CNN’s chief international correspondent, a position she held till 2010. During her time at CNN Amanpour became known as the woman on the frontlines of just about every international crisis. Now the anchor of ABC News’ This Week she is garnering a reputation as the woman who scores the big interviews. A highlight so far at This Week has been her sit down with Muammar Gaddafi and his sons Saif al-Islam and Al-Saad al-Gaddafi.
