Longtime Google executive Marissa Mayer broke down several barriers yesterday when it was announced she was being named CEO of Yahoo. The same day the announcement was made, Mayer announced another milestone, that she's expecting her first child with husband Zachary Bogue. The news makes Mayer one of 19 women CEOs among the Fortune 500 and one of 15 moms (in Mayer’s case, an expectant mom).

Board members at Yahoo were aware that Mayer was pregnant during the CEO search process. An anonymous source told Mashable, “It was not part of the consideration … Like every other professional woman, she has to weigh all the factors in doing her job and having a family.”

Mayer has already caused a stir with her maternity leave plans. She told Fortune, "My maternity leave will be a few weeks long and I'll work throughout it."

Mayer is replacing another mom, Carol Bartz, who was let go from the struggling tech giant in September 2011. Mayer is due to give birth in October.
