2010 Winter Olympics Mom Athletes

A unique group of winter athletes will compete in the 2010 Olympic games in Vancouver, Canada. They are working mothers who are hard competitors and represent the US Olympic team in some of the most demanding sports including Alpine skiing and skeleton racing. And as moms, they are unique role models for their children and others.

Jenny Potter

Sport: Ice Hockey

Kids: Madison, 9; Cullen, 2

It’s no easy feat to be a mother of two and an Olympic veteran but hockey player Jenny Potter has managed to do it. Potter took home the gold medal in 1998, the silver medal in 2002 and the bronze medal in 2006 in ice hockey. Potter, at 31, has been nicknamed “Mom” by her Olympic teammates—fitting considered she is always balancing her two loves parenting and ice hockey. Her oldest child, Madison, has been attending Potter’s games since she was a baby. Potter played five-months into her pregnancy with two-year-old Cullen.
