How do I post to my blog?
To get started, please log onto the site from the top right of the homepage.

To post on your blog, go to "blogs" (www.workingmother.com/blogs) and then "Add a new post" by clicking the green button on the far left. Use the top "body" box to insert your blog text. You can also edit an old post here. Don't forget that you can use the little link symbol in the tool bar to add urls to your posts. When you add a link, please select the "open link in a  new window" option. There is also a tiny "Paste from Word" symbol which we suggest you use as well, if you work in MSWord. You can also add one photo to each post as well under the "Upload Media" option.

Cutting and pasting images from other blogs will not work. You need to load the photos separately.

You can click to select categories for your post, too. Please limit categories to either @work or @home – and only choose 3-5 tags.

Can I change my headshot?
Yes. If you would like to replace your photo, click on your name at the top right (make sure you are signed in already) and go to "My Account." This will let you change the password and upload a new identifying photo under "change icon." Square-cropped images work best.

Is the "Blogger Headshot" option the same as my headshot?
No. Confusing as it is, that option is for the photo that appears on the homepage and other places we promote the blogs and bloggers. That means it can be a higher resolution than the tiny icon headshots. Many bloggers loaded this blogger headshot when joining the site. If you did not, you can add it now.

I made a mistake in my post. How do I revise it?
Log in if you have not already. Go to workingmother.com/blogs, and click on "edit posts." Scroll down until you see the post you want to fix and click the blue "Edit Post" option. You also have the option to delete the post here.

What do I do if I accidentally saved my post twice?
See above. Delete the second one.

Why is my post blank after saving?
There could be a number of reasons. It depends on your browser (and browser version) as well as how you save your copy and whether or not you use a Mac or PC. FYI, Firefox consistently works well for many of our contributors.

We recommend using plain or simple text copy that you cut and paste into our blog format. You can also use Word documents, but first click on the  "paste from word" icon in the toolbar. That cleans up some of the formatting.

If you accidentally do save a blank blog post, please go in and revise it. If the same thing happens again, send us the copy and someone will manually do it, or come up with another solution for you. Sometimes it just happens.

Why is there funny code displaying on top of my post?
Most of the time an extra space at the top of your copy causes this to happen. If you see this in your blog, revise the post and remove that extra space. If you still have the problem, let us know.

Can I change my bio?
Bloggers cannot revise their own blog descriptions/bios. If you have changes to your bio, please email us here.

Can I link to another blog?

You can most certainly include links in your posts, and promoting your personal site is AOK to us. BUT, we request that you not run exactly the same posts on both sites.  Please include original copy on workingmother.com, even if you are covering similar topics on both sites.

Do you have Working Mother badges?
Yes, and we would love you to post one of our Workmom bloggers badges on your personal site. Email kelli.daley@workingmother.com to request one. We have both code and image files to share.

How do I get featured as a Workmom blogger on the homepage?
Blog posts are selected for a number of reasons, including just being fresh and available when we are updating the site. However, well written (even provocative) content with an engaging headshot helps posts rise to the top. And if you think your post is especially topical and worthy of extra attention, you can always let us know. Our intention is to feature everyone at one time or another.
