For a happier work-to-home transition, take a few minutes to decompress before plunging into kid and dinner duty.

1. Shift gears. Shed work duds and switch to jeans and a sweatshirt, even jammies— whatever signals relaxation. And shut off your BlackBerry.

2. Know yourself. Would some deep breaths outdoors help you Zen? A cup of herbal tea? Choose what calms you and do it.

3. Be type B. You’re not a slacker if you momentarily chill with the E! channel in front of the TV. This mental shift might be just the transition trick you need.
