5 Tips For Creating a Romantic Night In

Sensual Scents

Whether planning for one guest or several couples, let robust spices (think cloves, canela, cardamom and black pepper) help set the mood with the help of a standard frying pan. Toast the spices just to their smoking point, and the room will fill with an inviting--and delicious--bouquet.

When entertaining it is so

queenmelissa's picture
by queenmelissa on November 23, 2012
When entertaining it is so important to be relaxed and ready to greet the guests upon arrival. Prepare all the food and be finished by 1 hour before the guests are to arrive. Use the last hour to breathe deeply and to freshen up and dress and don't forget your shoes! One year while hostess for my husbands office people party, I looked down an hour into the party and realized I had forgotten to put my shoes on. Don't get too caught up in the "perfect" presentation and try to just create a beautiful dining room table and use it as the focal point for the party. Having food in every room is convienent for guests in conversation, but isn't necessary. Since everyone tends to gather in my kitchen and dining room I focus my decorating on those rooms{the bathroom doesn't have to scream Christmas}and try to arrange chairs throughout the main floor where there are groupings of 2 chairs throughout. Most important and something it took me awhile to learn was that what really matters is you have a housefull of guests who are comfortable and having a pleasant party time in your home. What they eat and the decorating they see is second, first is that you the hostess appear relaxed and at ease so that they too will feel the same.
