Today is the day of love…cheers! Surely this day was made for us because as moms we are the Lovers-in-Chief! We dispense it unconditionally and eternally, we teach it, we live it and we display it so many ways every single day. On Valentine’s Day we celebrate loving our spouses, partners, significant others, children, families and friends. But in all of our loving, let’s not forget #1…ourselves! I know it’s hard but we moms have to remember to stop and smell the roses (and not just the ones we get today!), nurture ourselves and pamper our minds, bodies and spirits. 

The lovely craze of being a mom NEVER stops. It's the most intense, all consuming, never-ending job on earth. And while duty is always a-callin’, we need to take time for ourselves regularly to refresh and renew so that we can continue. So whether it's in the form of nightly glass of wine, dining with girlfriends, a daily dose of reading, going to the gym, writing in a journal or just adding an extra hour of sleep to your night, do it. Whatever does it for you, do it for yourself because ultimately it helps the entire family.

I make it a regular part of every week to get a manicure and chair massage at my favorite local spa. I always leaving feeling refreshed, upbeat and even cute...ha! This is my time and I guard it like a pitbull guards her bone! Like all of you, I’m busy giving to everyone else all the time and I NEED this time to myself to unwind and leave it all behind. It's so important as the Lovers-in-Chief of our families to also be the Lovers-in-Chief of ourselves. So let’s make a vow today on the day of love to love ourselves by giving to ourselves regularly so the well never runs dry. Now on the count of 3, a big mom group hug of love…1,2,3…LOVE!
