I have a teenage daughter--we all know what that means. But seriously, she is overall a great kid: She works hard at her schoolwork, practices violin even when she doesn't want to, helps (some) around the house and doesn't abuse social networking sites. She even listens to me and takes my advice--sometimes. What's truly cool is that she, totally on her own, has started and regularly posts to two blogs on fashion (her passion) and pop culture (you can read them at lafillenyc.blogspot.com and pearlsandpoison.buzznet.com/user). Her creative and fertile brain comes up with ideas for these blogs almost daily. Hey, I'm impressed. But what I'm trying to get at is that recently she gave me some very good fashion advice, which I actually took. I've always bought not-too-terribly-pricy jeans that usually don't fit quite right. One day when my daughter and I were out shopping, she advised me to try on some better jeans, even though I'm usually against their price tags. She said that this was one clothing item it might be good to invest a little more in. Guess what? I found a brand/style that fits me perfectly and looks really good and makes me feel sleek. Yes, I popped for the bigger price and, as they say, I'm worth it. Thanks to my daughter. I may have to take her advice more often.
What have you all learned from your kids lately?
