I was at a party over the weekend where, as inevitably happens, the men and women gravitated toward separate rooms. At one point during the women's conversation we somehow got on the topic of household chores. We women sure know how to party, don't we?
One of the women said something about laundry and mentioned that she doesn't mind doing laundry, but she hates putting the clothes away. I had to laugh because I feel the exact same way. I don't mind gathering, sorting, washing, or even folding clothes. For some reason, though, I really don't like putting the clothes away. Why is that? It doesn't take that long, but I just don't like that part.
This woman also said she didn't like unloading the dishwasher. I don't think I mind the dishwasher, though in all fairness, I don't do it all that often because that chore belongs to my stepson.
I'm not a big fan of cleaning the kitchen counters or table. I hate food messes (crumbs and splatters and such). I do my best to avoid making a mess while cooking just so I can avoid cleaning up the mess after. This is a family household, though, so there usually is some sort of wipe down that needs to happen.
On the other hand, I don't mind washing pots and pans after dinner. The idea of washing them makes me a bit cranky, but the actual act doesn't bother me at all. Weird.
So I'm curious... what are you least favorite household chores and which ones do you not mind? Do you delegate your least favorite chores, deal with them on your own, or ignore them and hope they go away on their own?
