My Son's Future Wife

My Son's Future Wife

The subject line from my 5 year old son’s pre-school director letting me know a girl’s intentions at school. Of course, I was quite proud someone wanted to live with my son for the rest of his life. And additionally grateful we just bought a suit for a relative’s wedding so if they can plan it quickly, we won’t have to buy the groom’s outfit.

Below is the note, which I could not resist interjecting some of my comments. Future wife’s name has been replaced to protect her from years of embarrassment. Unfortunately for my son, I have not been so kind to him.

I have to tell you this story, it’s too funny. While we were finishing our lunch in the park today ‘Cute Pre-School Girl’ announced that she was going to marry Nicholas. I asked her if she thought he could provide for her and she said she didn’t know. So I told her to ask him. Nicholas told her that as a husband he knew he could dress her and wash the dishes! Yes, he does dress himself but does not do our dishes. But now that I know he can, that will surely change.

Then he said, and “oh yeah, I can make pancakes with my Mom but she’d have to come over and help me.”
Clearly my job as assistant is never going to be over and soon I’ll be taking care of one additional person.

‘Cute Pre-school Girl’ then went on to tell me that she wanted a gown, a crown, and a ring.
Oh no, she clearly does not know I’m the princess in the family and there is only room for one.

I told her to ask Nicholas if he had money to buy her a ring. She asked, and he said, “well I had a ring from the dentist, but I dropped it, stepped on it, and now it’s broken. I’m sorry I have no ring to give you.”
I usually blow off the 6 month dental appointment but this could be a really money saver if we go and get another ring.

I laughed and laughed. He just smiled, I don’t think he really knew what I thought was so funny.
Enjoy and place it on your facebook or family blog. Yes, the pre-school director is aware I’ll make fun of him a bit in this blog and thanks for sharing!
