After years of vigilence that expressed itself mostly in nagging I was finally vindicated about my husband's health.
I had been saying for years and years that he was too heavy. He was 20 pounds lighter than he is now when I began nagging about this, and as his weight gradually climbed to its current level I continually knew I was right--every pound of the way.
A few weeks ago he began to get shortness of breath, which was then diagnosed as heart disease, which then resulted in 2 arterial stents being put in. He feels so much better now, but his doctor has insisted that he lose 20 pounds. Of course, his doctor has insisted on this before, but now we both have a major medical incident to back up his recommendation and my nagging.
I have no idea if this medical scare will actually help him to get control of his weight or not. But I do know that I will continue to give him ideas for weight loss as if his life depended on it. And I hope he listens this time.
