I'm a TVholic!

Posted on September 01, 2010

I love to watch TV.  It seems, at the present moment of chaotic family separation, Army life, out of ordinary work schedules...etc, that the best ME time is sitting in front of my TV watching DVR'ed shows.  I would love nothing more than to be able to get out and "get a life", but there is something so incredibly soothing about sitting down and enjoying some mindless, occasionally drooling TV watching (okay, so I really don't drool, but the mindless part is fabulous).   A time to not answer the MILLION questions that are coming from my ten-year old regarding puberty, a time to not talk to a MILLION pilots at work, a time to NOT fold laundry, or wash the floors, or pick up toys, or work out (trying to successfully do P90X and I dread the workout each day).  Just mindless TV watching.  Maybe with a glass of wine, maybe not, but the time to myself is so precious!

As much as I love to watch TV, I don't watch it enough.  I come home after a night at work and watch "The Nanny" until I am ready to fall asleep (after my night shifts), or watch "Cougar Town" at night after the news, but I don't watch it enough.  The draw of the chores, bills, and P90X get to me first.  Basically, what it boils down to is that it isn't that I don't watch TV enough, it is that I don't spend enough time to myself having quality ME time.  As nutty as our lives are as working mothers, it is so essential to get some personal time in....away from work, kids, husbands, housework....whatever it is, time to ourselves to rejuvinate is crucial.  For me, it relieves my stress and gives me a better perspective on my life, even if for only 20 minutes a day (fast forwarding through commercials, of course.)

So, for ME time, I sit and watch TV.  And I looooooove it!!!
