Last night on Sprout TV, a short feature was run wherein “Sproutlets” told the camera what they wondered about. It was cute, interesting, and above all, made me wonder too. So I’ve compiled my own “I Wonder” list by way of introduction here at Working Mother's blog family and it goes a little like this:
1. I wonder why my daughter has no qualms about finger painting her entire torso and face, but then deems paint on her hands, “YUCKY!”
2. I wonder, occasionally, if people really see kids at all or if they just fall short of our vision.
3. I wonder why working mothers feel guilty all of the time – or, at least, why they talk about it so much.
3.a. I wonder if that last wonderment means that I talked about it too…
4. I wonder what the world really looks like through my toddler’s eyes. I have recollections of being that young, but the visions in my mind are tainted with adult eyes now.
5. I wonder why some people view mothers in the military so negatively, even though they support childfree females.
6. I wonder who our daughter got her eyesight from. She can spot a teeny, tiny ant 100 yards away.
6.a. I wonder who taught her that it was OK to smutch them. It wasn’t us.
7. I wonder why the Air Force had to punish us with their horrible “new” uniform. It feels like it’s made of canvas.
8. I wonder why, in a society that places so much stock (or at least give so much lip service to…) in equality, the concept of a stay-at-home father is still so appalling for so many.
9. I wonder what our toddler hears when she’s listening to us. Do we sound like the adults in Peanuts or does it make more sense to her than she lets on?
10. Finally, I wonder if I’ll ever lose this damn weight!
