I wished for Snow and Got Cabin Fever out of the deal!

Posted on January 14, 2011

That cliche' "careful what you wish for" sure got me this week! Here's why. Before Christmas, I went gaga over our local weather guys forecast of a possible White Christmas for us. Seriously!? It will be the first ever for us in Charlotte NC and in my lifetime! I've lost count wishing and singing "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas..." each year. I never thought it will ever come true.

But, I guess I kept my hopes way up high. The mountains did get white Christmas but not in the piedmont where I'm. And to make it ironic than it already was, it snowed, really snowed day after we left for California to visit my mom for the holidays, two days short of Christmas. Talk about bummer! But given that I wasn't going to get any of that snow, being in California, I kept my wish. Snow any day even in California was a welcome thought.  But I wasn't so lucky. The time to head home came and what do you know? It snowed the day after we left! Really snowed. It made me think that maybe the snow hated me!

Not letting that thought dampened my spirits, I wished harder. And YES! My wish came true! It finally SNOWED this week! AND LOTS OF IT. I was ecstatic...The thought of Snow day was very appealing. But that appeal only lasted for a day. Snow days dragged on for 3 days...Cabin Fever started to kick in. The snow turned into ice, the fun was over and we're cooped up in the house with a six year old kid who was getting bored out of her wits. Not fun at all. I can't wait to go back to work just so I can get out of the house!

Maybe next time I should wish for a snow that lasts only a day or two... How did your snow days turned out to be?
