Spread the love this Valentine’s Day in the place where it means the most: home.
The Food of Love
There may be no sweeter way to share affection with your family than making homemade treats together. Don chef aprons and create Valentine’s Day cookies for family, friends and classmates. Let the kids decorate them with pink frosting and candy hearts and write messages on the gift tags like “this cookie comes straight from my heart!”
The Sweetest Sounds
Ever notice how many songs speak of love? Scroll through itunes.com to make a list of everyone’s favorites. From The Lion King’s “Can You Feel the Love tonight” to Taylor Swift’s “Love Story,” see which makes it onto your family playlist. You can expand on this every year to see how your kids’ taste in music changes.
The Way to Show it
To help kids learn that caring is really about sharing, set out to do some volunteer work together for your community. Or, if there’s a hospital nearby, see if there’s a program that enlists kids to make cards for patients. Then ask your child to write heartfelt notes that’ll bring cheer.
