Drop-Side Cribs Banned In US

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that drop-side cribs, where a side rail can be raised and lowered, are now banned in US. Many mothers out there, long aware of the potential for injury they cause, are probably thinking to themselves, it's about time.

Not only are drop-side cribs now illegal to sell new, so is the resale of used drop-side cribs and the use of them in day care centers and in hotels.

A study by the Nationwide Children's Hospital in Pediatrics early in 2011 revealed that more than 9.500 emergency room visits are due to cribs each year. Read more from the study here.
