Use these management strategies with your kids.

1. Inspire by example. Your work staff is organized and efficient—like you. At home, you can barely get your kid to Velcro on her shoes. Lead your mini team with positive actions and words to mirror and mimic.

2. Understand your team. Just as there are variations in how employees work, there are differences in the way kids function best. So embrace their unique traits, timing and temperament for a smoother morning.

3. Individualize rewards. Whether it’s a senior staffer or a sullen 16-year-old, everyone likes to be recognized—and rewarded—for hard work and good behavior. Offer personalized incentives to keep kids on a timely track.
