From Fortune 500 to Parenting Coach

Posted on September 22, 2010

I was born with a love of children, the same way I was born a Spaniard girl. I am the oldest of almost 30 cousins, so I’ve always been around babies and I loved it. I was a mother before I had children. I am passionate about parenting but it never occurred to me that working with parents was my calling.

So, I took the ‘conventional’ path, I graduated with my Bachelor in Business by the University of Wales and my Master in Business (MBA) by New York University.

I worked in Strategy and Marketing for over 10 years. I started my career at a telecommunications start-up that grew up to become the third player in the market.
I later worked at the Wall Street Journal - Dow Jones, Inc.’s strategy department, and at Citigroup as part of one of their most prestigious management programs.

When my twin daughters were born 2 months premature, in January 2009, something shifted inside of me. One of the things that first came to my attention was that my all instincts in caring for my preemie babies were right; other moms were turning to me for advice; and doctors, nurses and pediatric therapists would compliment my parenting skills and innate ability to understand babies and meet their needs. I know this ‘gift’ has always been in me, but somehow I managed to hide it behind my business career.

At the beginning of 2010, I decided it was time for me to follow my dream, foster my talent, and start helping parents in a bigger and better way.  I got certified as a youth, parenting and family coach, and launched Smooth Parenting. Since then, it's been a year of bliss.

The transition from Fortune 500 company high-level employee to full time mom, and from there to mompreneur, was challenging but extremely rewarding. I love working with moms and dads, and seeing them become the parents they’ve always wanted to be.

I look forward to sharing my journey as a working mother with all of you.
