Don't Go On Print Overload

Mixing and matching prints is a big trend for fall—just make sure you don’t go into overload at the office. Stick to two prints (like stripes and florals or leopard and lace) so your colleagues aren’t left scratching their heads.

Prints can be hard to pull off and even harder for your colleagues to accept if you have not been wearing them. Going overboard with them certain is not the best way to earn respect in the office. I might even avoid prints if I were working in a more formal workplace. - http://www.uncomfortablefoot.com

For office wear, I suggest wearing what you are normally comfortable with wearing and not to go overly adventurous. It is one thing to look trendy, and another to look ridiculous in an office of white shirts and business attire. There is a time and place to new fashion, and the office is most often not. Also- just because everyone else is wearing it, doesn't mean its okay to wear it! One summer several of the women started wearing maxi dresses to work. Big no no! Very unprofessional! And crocs. No crocs. And also Casual Friday isn't wear your clubbing jeans to work day, either.

Amen! It's so important to pay attention to the culture and dress code in your office as they vary from city to city, industry to industry. I just started publishing a series on the 5 Levels of Working Mom Outfits (at www.closet-coach.com) and one of the core points is about the varied ways we dress for our lives as working moms. One of the levels is Casual Friday, and what might be appropriate for Casual Friday in one office could be worn all week at another.
