Patience Helps to see Big Picture

For the entire week and right up until the long Holiday weekend officially began last Friday, I had been working on a big project. I still had some organizing to do for it over the weekend but found myself burnt out.

So, I decided to let it go, enjoy my weekend and figured I'd get back in full force Tuesday AM to finish up. This was the best decision, because as I began to get back to the writing part of the project this morning, I had fresh perspective and new insight from just thinking about it over the weekend, but not doing anything. Feeling refreshed, energized and clear helped to bring some new perspective to the project. Sometimes you just have to let go, step back and come back to the issue later, allowing yourself a more "big picture" view.

I had gotten so focused on just completing it all, that I wasn't seeing some of the other long term benefits of this project. Patience is not always my strength, but everytime I allow myself the luxury of being patient, I always gain something important from that extra time to think and see more of the whole situation. "Patience is the companion of wisdom." So, true and now I'm much better for having waited to complete my project! Do you like to push through things too quickly sometimes just so that you can check it off your list?

If so, try stepping back and waiting next time, I bet you'll be glad you did. Let me know.
