My second day at the Democratic convention has been an amazing experience so far, and its only 5:30!

Right now all of the Democratic women representatives in Congress are on the stage, and eight of them are speaking--Nancy Pelosi, Rosa DeLaura, Nita Lowey, Hilda Solis, Louise Slaughter, Maxine Waters, Kathy Castor, and Lois Capps. Seeing all of the women standing together reminded me of how we women need to stand together and help each other in all aspects. I couldn't count how many there were but there were a lot!!

I want you to meet some of the women I met today. Let me tell you their stories.

First, the amazing Leah Daughtry, the CEO of the Denver Convention (pictured with David Kellner-Rode). She spoke at a luncheon I attended and I knew I had to meet her. Powerful, quiet, and purposeful, this African American woman spoke the truth about working mothers. When I asked her what she thought working mothers contribute to this country she said, "working mothers should have a stronger say on matters of economic security in this country. Working mothers know how to balance a budget, how to stretch their dollars to make ends meet, how to provide for their families. They have a powerful, authentic voice in directing the economy of this country and no one should discount their voice."

Wow! What a statement! Thank you Leah.

Next I met David Kellner-Rode, his mom Abby and his aunt Rachel Binah. David is 19-year-old college student from Alaska who became a political junkie when his Aunt Rachel took him to the inauguration of Bill Clinton when he was 8. She took him to the Democratic Convention when he was 14 and now at 19 he's going to the convention as a page to a politician.

His mom is a former teacher, now a librarian. His aunt doesn't have kids of her own and so she decided a long time ago to help her nieces and nephews get introduced to politics by including them in the work she does for the Democratic party. Let's call it Take Our Nieces and Nephews to Work Day! We should all think of how we can include our kids and our extended kids in our working lives. I can tell that David is going to be a valuable citizen because of his aunt's considerable care.

In true 19 year old fashion, when I asked him for a comment about the convention he said, "Go Obama!"

I ran over to Hillary's Delegate event after lunch and was thrilled to catch her speech to her biggest fans. She was warm and firm--she told them she released them from their votes, she appreciated all they had done for her and that she was going to cast her vote for Barack Obama.

In attendance at the Delegate event were lots of moms and their kids. I met Andrea Brendlianger and her darling 4-month-old baby Eva. She is an entrepreneur mom who runs a business called Fireplace and Grill Experts. She has 20 employees and she works out of her home here in Denver.

Gloria Davis and her mom Sadie Smith were here from Texas. Gloria's son is all grown up--38 years old. Gloria is an Obama delegate who came to hear what Hillary would say to her Delegates.

Then I met Maurice Scott Smith, 18 months old. His aunt Joyce Speltz came from Detroit Michigan to be at the convention and wanted her nephew to meet Hillary. I promised Maurice that I would put his picture on our website.

Then in the hall, I met the wonderful Obama delegate and mom Sarah Burlingame and her cute baby Atticus. Sarah had a message for the DNCC: she wants them to make lactation rooms available to the. Convention goers! I'm going to deliver that message right now!
