Hmmm, I wonder if Arnold ever does housework. We know he does the housekeeper (pardon the little joke). But seriously, we know that real men can be good husbands, good dads. So one would just naturally infer that they would also help out with housekeeping, with child care. After all, to us working moms, those things are very real. I have a really good husband. But he isn't so really good at the 50/50 when it comes to the upkeep of our home. He's actually very caring, and a very involved dad. But when it comes to the daily housework to-dos, sorry, honey, but I think you need to get real. I know, I know, it matters more to me. Still, if I matter to him (and I know I do), then why can't what matters to me matter to him? Oh, I guess a lot of it does—just not housekeeping.
I really have to follow the advice we give in our Daddy on Board column. The few things I've actually tried, work. But I need to be more consistent in the way I approach getting housework buy-in from the guy. The problem is, I'm just too tired to do it the right way sometimes. And, bottom line, I guess I just wish I didn't have to ask and remind and, finally, do it myself so often.
Help me out ladies: Does anyone feel this way? Are you getting help from your husband at home any easier than I am?
